SWAG to mourn Afranie, Osam Duodu

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana(SWAG) will join the football family as it gather to bid its final farewell to two respected coaches, Fred Osam Duodu and Emmanuel Kwasi Afranie.

Two high-powered delegation led by SWAG president, Kwabena Yeboah and Deputy General Secretary, Thomas Boakye Agyeman, will be at Agona Nyakrom and Kumasi respectively the two men are laid to their final rest.

Both funerals take place at the same time with Osam Duodu’s being held at Agona Nyakrom and Afranie to be buried at Bonwire in Ashanti and the funeral rites held at the Heroes Park at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The Graphic Sports has also learnt that the members of the members of the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Committee (ExCo) in the southern zone attend Osam Duodu’s funeral, while the Emergency Committee, led by president Kwesi Nyantakyi, joined by the ExCo members in the northern zone, attend Afranie’s funeral.

Both coaches, good friends as well, served Ghana football at both club and national levels, and they are best remembered for teaming up to win the 1978 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with the Black Stars.
