Star Assurance insures rugby team

Star Assurance’s initiative to sponsor the national rugby team,  Black Eagle Sevens,  has been lauded by the president of the Ghana Rugby Association (GRA), Gifty Annan-Myers.

The left for Burkina Faso to participate in the North Division Two African Cup of Nations.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the GRA president, said; “it is good to have an insurance company sponsoring your players in case of any incidents.”

“I am looking forward to Star Assurance staying with us even after the team returns from their trip so that they can extend the package to our league,” Annan-Myers stated.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Manager for Corporate Relations of Star Assurance, Robert Nyarko, revealed that his outfit had provided the team with two main types of insurance, namely the travel and personal accident cover.

He also disclosed that the total insurance package was worth 480,000 euros, with 360,000 euros on travel and 120,000 euros on personal accident cover.

“We have allocated 480,000 euros in all for them, consisting of both travel insurance and personal accident cover and will take care of their medical treatment, injuries on the field and death throughout their stay in Burkina Faso.”
