They are David Aquaye, Richmond Osarfo, Christian Amoah, Forrester Osei and Ruth Baffoe.

Mr Asiamah announced the reward last Thursday when the president of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF), Ben Nunoo Mensah, led the team to present to the minister eight medals they won at the respective international competitions.

Addressing the weightlifters during the visit to the ministry, Mr Asiamah praised the team for a good work done and charged other sporting federations to emulate their example.

"I want to congratulate each and every one of you for the good work you have done for the country, the government really appreciates you. I have been asked by the President to reward you with GH¢10,000 for your achievement,” he said.

The president of the GWF, Ben Nunoo Mensah, expressed appreciation to the ministry and the government and said it would motivate the athletes to put in their best in subsequent competitions.

Mr Mensah, however, called on the ministry to help train more coaches to help in the nurturing of talents in all the various sporting disciplines.
