Making the presentation at the inaugural forum in memory of the late Sly Tetteh, co-founder of Liberty Professionals at the Tang Palace hotel in Accra last Friday, the FA boss eulogised the late football administrator for the professionalism and the business dimension he introduced in the running of football in the country and on the continent.

Nyantakyi who delivered the lecture said: “His development of players contributed to Ghana’s qualification and participation in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

“Notable among those players are Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, Derek Boateng, John Paintsil, Kwadwo Asamoah, Daniel Agyei and Emmanuel Pappoe”,

Nyantakyi recalled, and described him as a role model to several, including referees, coaches and football administrators.

Nyantakyi who is also the First Vice-President of CAF described the late Tetteh as an advisor, and a powerbroker, and revealed how he benefitted from Tetteh’s links with high profile personalities in CAF when he decided to contest for an election in 2011.

“Personally, when I decided to contest for a position on the CAF executive Committee in 2011, it was Sly who virtually held my hand and took me through the customs and rudiment of contesting elections in CAF,” he said, extolling his generosity, including funding Nyantakyi’s trips to visit various powerbrokers at CAF.

He said despite his massive contribution to football he refused all appointments to serve in any executive positions at the FA, “he refused appointment to all frontline positions at the GFA, he preferred to serve his beloved country as a backbencher and he did that par excellent,” the FA boss noted.

The event drew an impressive crowd made up of the various stakeholders, as as well as the members of the Executive Committee of the CAF, the deputy Sports Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide, and Lepowura M.N.D. Jawula who was the chairman of the occasion.
