The match, according to the General Manager of Elmina Sharks, George Wiredu, is expected to foster unity and promote healthy rivalry between the two Premier League clubs in the Central Region.

Mr Wiredu told the Graphic Sports that a committee is still deliberating between December 29 and January 3, 2018, as the possible dates for the matches to be played at the Cape Coast Stadium and the Nduom Stadium at Elmina respectively.

“Dr Nduom has also promised an undisclosed amount for the winning team and so we are looking foward to a competitive clash,” he said.

Mr Wiredu further said the essence of the matches is to entertain football lovers in and around the area and to preach unity the among the followers of Dwarfs and Elmina Sharks.

This, he said, is to water down the seeming tension and acrimony which usually characterise matches between the two sides, stressing that “there is no difference between Elmina and Cape Coast and so we must see each other as one.”

“We are one family and so we must not allow football, which is supposed to unite us, to divide our ranks,” Mr Wiredu stated and called on fans within Cape Coast and Elmina to look out for an exciting competition.
