Team Ghana began with a winning intent in the first half when dangerman fullback Yusif Jalilu scored two tries to give the Ghanaians 29 points to five points in the half.

Jalilu scored again before Theo Opai added  two tries entering into the break.

Benin, however, equalised through Alphonse Genge to even the scores and put themselves back into the game, before Abdul Mumuni scored another try for Ghana.

Back from the break, Michael Acquaye and Kelechi Onwunta made additional two tries and a conversion to end proceedings 46 points to five points.

The tournament, which is an Africa Cup of Nations for Zone 1 West Africa saw little resistance offered by the Beninois team against the marauding Ghanaians in the ending minutes of the game with the hosts backed by strong home support.

The Eagles will next play the winner of the match between Togo and Benin on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Togo and Benin will face off on Wednesday at the Accra Stadium.
