The oil company will also help to develop infrastructure and enhance RtD recruitment events across Ghana, giving more young Ghanaians the chance to benefit from the 15-year-old academy whose graduates include Black Stars’ striker, Abdul Majeed Waris, and Helsingborg forward, David Accam.

Tullow's General Manager, Charles Darku, at the signing ceremony in Accra, said the partnership was aimed at strengthening and emboldening the academy's commitment to developing Ghana's next generation of role models and leaders.

Tom Vernon, founder and CEO of the academy, said his outfit was concerned with producing role models who could leverage their sporting status and academic achievements to impact their societies.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, who was the guest of honour, entreated other corporate firms to emulate Tullow’s example by providing such financial assistance to unlock the potential in the youth.
