Real Madrid offer Ronaldo new contract worth 23 million euros a year

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is in talks over extending his current Real Madrid contract until 2021.

According to Spanish daily, Sport, Madrid have offered the 31-year-old player a staggering deal worth 23 million euros net per season.

Ronaldo's current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu runs out in 2018 but Madrid want to tie him down because they are due to face a transfer ban from FIFA.

Per the terms of the new deal, Cristiano will pen a five-year deal keeping him with Los Blancos until 2021. That will mean he would be 36 years when he leaves the club.

Super agent and Ronaldo's close pal Jorge Mendes is negotiating with Madrid President Florentino Perez in an effort to close the deal.

Should Ronaldo sign the deal, it would be the second largest contract in Spanish history after Leo Messi’s last deal with FC Barcelona and ahead of Neymar, whose renewal is worth 15 million euros annually.
