‘President must call Nii Lante, Nyantakyi to order’

Former Black Stars player, Rev. Osei Kofi, has called on the government to intervene and ensure peace between the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), if the Black Stars should stand a chance of winning the AFCON, as well as qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Rev. Osei Kofi noted that ensuring peace between the MOYS and the GFA would be essential in enhancing Ghana’s fourth consecutive World Cup qualification.

The former national star explained that it is in the interest of the nation to establish the roles both organisations play so as to avoid interfering in each other’s mandate.

The MOYS and GFA have been embroiled in a feud in recent times, with both the sector minister and the GFA president engaging in some unhealthy public outbursts.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports, Rev. Kofi said, "I urge government to call on both the Ministry and the GFA to ensure peace between them so the country can qualify for the World Cup and win the AFCON."

"That is the only way we can achieve our targets if we indeed want to meet our target as a country", he added.

Talking about the AFCON draw which saw Ghana in Group D alongside Uganda, Mali and Egypt, the dribbling wizard stated that the Stars just needed to be focused to go through since each of the opponents would be difficult to beat.
