Preko lectures at Samsung ‘Dream Camp’

Samsung Ghana last Friday provided students from the Kotobabi Cluster of Schools in Accra with a golden opportunity to be mentored by former Black Stars and RSC Anderlecht striker, Yaw Preko, at a day’s training camp at the Lizzy’s Sports Complex at East Legon.

The programme formed part of Samsung’s “I See Your Dreams “Dream Camp” campaign aimed at fostering the spirit of professionalism and nurture the love for football in the youth of Ghana.

Preko, like the youngsters, began his career at Kotobabi with defunct colts side Powerlines and gave the students insight into the effort and commitment required to be a successful footballer.

In a motivational speech before taking to the pitch with the youngsters, the Black Satellites’ assistant coach advised them to be disciplined on and off the pitch if they wanted to realise their dreams of becoming soccer stars.

He said in order to succeed, the youngsters must remain focused and disciplined, especially in the classroom, if they wanted to be highly educated footballers capable of reading and understanding contracts they would sign.

“Your time should always be managed properly between school and football always support one another and remember that football is a team sport. Most important, never let anyone tell you you can’t make it; I was just like you,” he said.

Preko later took the students through various passing and shooting drills after which Kotobabi Three clashed with Kotobabi Four in an exhibition game which  Kotobabi Four won.

Samsung Ghana  presented both teams with a set of football gear and trophies each.
