Polo: I’m ready to assist Appiah at Stars

Ghana soccer legend, Mohammed Ahmed Polo, says he is ready to assist former Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah if appointed as the coach of the Black Stars again.

He reveals that, in conjunction with the FA, he is coming out with a five-year development plan that  would see the Black Stars annex the World Cup in 2022 in Qatar.

“I am traveling across all the regions formulating a plan to chart a path for us to win the World Cup in 2022”, he says.

According to Polo, Appiah, who now trains Sudanese side, AL Khartoum SC, is tried and tested and would be the right person for the job.

“Kwasi Appiah has coached the Black Stars before and knows the ins and outs of the Stars and can handle the pressure”, he told the Graphic Sports in an interview in Accra yesterday.

According to Polo, a legend of both the Black Stars and Accra Hearts of Oak, the 56-year-old Appiah had learnt his lessons after his fallout with the FA and players of the national side during his stint with the team from the period 2012 to 2014.

He noted that Appiah would have to take this opportunity to redeem his image in the national team and apply lessons he had learnt after departing the Stars in the aftermath of the World Cup.

“He would take this opportunity to become a better person and a better coach and apply lessons he has learnt”, Polo added.

Coach Appiah was at the helm of affairs during the infamous Black Stars campaign in the 2014 world cup in Brazil where player rebellion and explicit cash was the order of the day.

He advocated  that the players must respect the coach and ready to work with him.
