Polo: Delaney win Vodafone Cup
Delaney Petroleum team emerged champions at this year’s Accra Open Vodafone Cup polo competition held at the Accra Polo Club.

The team, led by captain Damian Duncan , defeated Logi-Plus 7-41 in a nerve-racking final watched by top personalities, including the Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area, Dasebre Professor Oti Boateng, and his entourage.
The three-day competition which started last Thursday attracted teams lke WDP Construction, Rivonia Ghana Limited, Logi-Plus and Delaney Petroleum.
Four players of Delaney Petroleum namely, Damian Duncan, Cesar Antonio Polledo, Rasheed Ibrahim and Jamil Ibrahim were decorated by the Omanhene with medals and also presented with trophies.
A horse named Pelanegra, belonging to Damian Duncan of Delaney Petroleum, took the best Pony award, while the best groom award went to Paapa of Accra Polo Club.
The most valuable player award went to Baba Dawule of Logi-Plus.
Dasebre Oti Boateng in an address called on society to endeavour to add sports to work to reduce stress and prolong life.
He urged society to take part in recreational activities to unite for a common purpose.
Mr Kwakye Dopoah-Dei, the captain of the Accra Polo Club and president of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA), noted that the current successes being chalked up by the sport would reach a crescendo next year with an action plan to involve more Ghanaians in the sport.
