In a keenly-contested championship, which attracted over 30 former national ping pong players, another businessman Samuel Quaofio placed third after defeating Robert Amartey 3-2.

Inspector Aboagye received an undisclosed sum of money, a set of solar panels and LED bulbs as his prize.

The brain child of the tournament, Christopher King, presented solar panels and LED bulbs to the other winners.

The president of the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), Mawuko Afadzinu, stressed the need for the competition to be sustained and called on lovers of the sport to help make the discipline a national past time.

The veterans game is a championship initiated by Christopher King, a legal practitioner and an ardent ping pong lover.

Mr King told the Graphic Sports he would continue supporting the growth of the game in Ghana and added that fans of the sports could patronise the competition at the Kings Royal Table Tennis Academy.
