He also disclosed that the team after winning the league would compete in the Africa Club Championship tournament in Morocco.

Defending champions Immigration were billed for the Africa Club Championships last year but dropped out due to financial constraints.

But Lartey, popularly referred to as “Spider’ by his teammates due to his impossible range of locomotions when playing, told the paper in an interview yesterday in Accra that management of the Ghana Immigration Service(GIS) have assured the playing body and officials that the team would make it to Morocco this season should they win the league.

“We have been assured that this year if we are able to make it to the top then management would do all within its power to fly us to Morocco for the Africa Club Championships”, he stated.

On personal future prospects, the 27-year-old member of the Black Loopers and All Africa Games bronze medallist is seeking for opportunities to hone his skills and level of the game in France, US, Germany and China.

Lartey believes he can become a world champion with the right support and equipment for training.

“I believe if we can surmount the issue of finance constraints and equipment challenges, Ghana can produce a world champion”, he told this paper.

He expressed gratitude to the President of the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTA), Mawuko Afadzinu for his financial and mental support towards all national team players.
