Otumfuo's challenge was in apparent reaction to the club's reconstituted seven-member Champions League Planning Committe which has set a modest target of reaching the money zone.

But Otumfuo, who is also the Life Patron of the club, wants the over three decades void created by club to be filled.

The committee, which was jointly formed by Manhyia, the seat of Otumfuo, and the board, has a Tema-based businessman, Alhaji Abu Lamini, who has chaired the committee for the last three seasons, still as chairman.

Other members are, the acting CEO of the club, Opoku Nti, former player and a member of the dreaded 1983 squad, Prince Polley, Dr Kweku Frimpong of Champion Divine Clinic fame, Nana Boakye Herbal, the operations manager of the club, George Kennedy and Kwame Kwame Amponsah (K5), chairman of the supporters union and a board member.

Alhaji Lamini told the Graphic Sports the committe was to collaborate with the National Lottery Authority to raise at least GC4 million for the campaign.

The committee is working with the authority to agree on the fine details for the fund-raising promotion to start.

Meanwhile, Kotoko are expected to begin camping immediately after the opening league game with Aduana Stars on January 18.

Kotoko, who are Ghana's sole representatives in the CAF Champions League, earned a walkover in their preliminary first round following the withdrawal of East End Lions of Sierra Leone.

The Sierra Leonian side cited lack of footballing activities in their country for the withdrawal.
