Osei still in charge at Kotoko

It has now been confirmed that Michael Osei will remain in charge of the technical bench of Kumasi Asante Kotoko despite the appointment of veteran Malik Jabir to take up the role of Technical Advisor of the club to assist Osei steer the club for the remaining matches in the Premier League.

It was initially feared that the arrival of Jabir, who at different times coached the club and also served as Technical Director as well as a member of the club’s Board of Directors, would relegate under-fire Osei. But Kotoko management sources told the Graphic Sports in Kumasi last Tuesday that Jabir’s role would be mainly advisory but his counsel would not be binding on the acting coach.

“Malik Jabir has joined the backroom staff to help chart a course for the team and has already started work. 

He will work behind the scenes to aid caretaker Coach Michael Osei, and his role would focus mainly on review of matches and plot systems that would produce the desired results to achieve the club's target of wining the Premier League,”  stated the source.

Despite being an acting capacity coach, Osei may decide not to implement Jabir’s advice if it is at variance with his philosophy for the game. 

According to a source, management does not intend want to rock the boat at this at this critical since a change in the direction of the club may lead to player revolt. 

Coach Osei has enjoyed great support from the players despite recent poor run of results, and it to him believed his survival on the job has been based on the loyalty of the players.
