No panic over Kwarasey injury

The Black Stars medical team have given a firm assurance that they are working round the clock to ensure that goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey bounces back to action, after the Norway-based shot stopper withdrew from training last Tuesday with a thigh injury.

He was subsequently put under assessment by the medical team headed by Dr Adam Baba to determine the degree of the injury.

GFA Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, told the Graphic Sports from the team’s Miami base that the handlers said Kwarasey’s problem was not one that should cause panic among Ghanaians, as the medical team were hopeful he would make a quick return to action.

Last Wednesday, the players were given a break from training at the Florida International University grounds and the 26-year-old Stromsgodset IF player walked around the team’s Hyatt Regency Hotel without any visible signs of pain.

Dr Baba and his team of physiotherapists, including Endo Tomonori of Manchester City, are also working tirelessly to ensure the speedy recuperation of Kwarasey, who put up an impressive display in Ghana’s 1-0 loss to The Netherlands last Saturday.

Tomonori, one of two physiotherapists added to Ghana’s technical team, already has previous working relationship with Black Stars midfield trio of Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng, who had requested to the GFA to bring their personal physioterapists to the team’s camp ti manage their recurrent injuries.

Meanwhile, injured defender, Jerry Akaminko, was expected to return to hospital yesterday for admission ahead of surgery on his injured left knee.

According to Sannie Daara, Akaminko visited a consultant surgeon last Wednesday for assessment of the injury during which it was decided he would go under the knife in the next few days.
