Nine subcommittees for Ghana Olympic Committee
The president of the Ghana Olympic Committee(GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah says a new paradigm shift in the administration and day to day running of Olympic sport has taken place in the country.

The participation of all stakeholders including the media will now be the norm so as to enjoin all in making sports in Ghana a success.
Mr Nunoo Mensah, elected to office last month, and who also doubles as the president of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation, noted that nine subcommittees had been formed as the working arm of the GOC.
They are Finance, Legal and constitutional, fundraising, marketing and sponsorship, medical and media relations. The rest are medical, Olympic Solidarity and project, vents and programmes, national federation relations and anti-doping.
Mr Nunoo Mensah made this announcement when, together with the Youth and Sports Minister, Mr Isaac Asiamah, Deputy Australian High Commissioner Justin Frazer, and in the presence of stakeholders of the GOC, officially launched the 365 days to the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, yesterday at the Accra Stadium.
Dubbed “ Journey to Gold Coast XXI Commonwealth 2018”, the launch attracted former Olympians, Azumah Nelson (boxing) and Ebenezer Oko Addy (athletics).
“ We must have and get quality athletes to the games and not quantity’, he stressed while advocating the need for foreign based athletes to begin individual camping in earnest ahead of the national camping.
Mr Frasery for his part, disclosed that the event is the biggest in Australia in a decade and largest ever spectacle in the history of the Gold Coast. According to him 70 countries and territories of the Commonwealth will participate in the event.
“Seven new additional women sporting events has been added including boxing, cycling and beach volleyball while the event will encompass 18 sporting disciplines and seven para-sports”, he noted.
Mr Asiamah said government was ready to support the nation’s team to the Commonwealth Games, despite the huge financial cost involved and added that his outfit’s would do all within its power to make the nation secure the largest ever medal haul.
