Nigerian Favour Ayobami wins Pipiro Table Tennis tourney

Nigerian ping pong player, Favour Ayobami beat Joshua Okine 3-1 in the final to win the maiden edition of the Pipiro Table Tennis tournament held at Adabraka in Accra last Saturday.

Veteran player Emmnanuel Asante defeated ace spinner Lord Fiifi 3-0 in the third and fourth placed match to place third in the one day tournament.

Ayobami was rewarded with GHC500 cash prize, Okine received GHC300, Asante got GHC200 and Fiifi took home a GHC100.

The competition witnessed 87 players including two females from Ghana, Togo, Cote D’Ivoire and Nigerian involved in the all play all format of batting, smashing and spinning.

The brain child of the event, Divine Nkrumah told the Daily Graphic that the tournament was aimed at whipping up enthusiasm about the game in communities and localities.

“We also want to tap your talents in table tennis for the national cause”, he noted.

He stated that the competition would spread its tentacles and the Upper East would be the next venue of the Pipiro tournament.
