Dozens of the country's finest body-builders are  poised to dethrone the defending champion, Yaw Azuri, in the  national body builders championship scheduled for September 6 at the Hathiramani Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Azuri, winner of the last edition  held two years ago, is still determined to hang onto the title.

But  he faces a stiff challenge from Eric Abew, who is determined to snatch the sole slot to compete at the Amateur Olympia scheduled for South Africa.

Samuel Adjei, national organiser of the Ghana Bodybuilders and Fitness Association (GBFA), told the Graphic Sports  GH¢8000 worth of prize and cash would go to the winner.

He appealed to corporate bodies and spirited individuals to come and support  the competition as the association had to dig deep into  individual pockets to finance the competition.

Ahead of the competition, the GBFA in partnership with Zenith Bank will organise a health walk in the morning before the competition commences at 7:30 pm.
