The 2003 All Africa Games bronze medalist, who is scheduled to depart Accra in November, is expected to train with the Westchester Table Tennis Training Centre in New York for six months.

Nanevie, who disclosed this to the Graphic Sports, was optimistic that training with the New York-based club would enhance his skills .

Explaining, he said, developing his potentials would enable him acquire the skills to unearth and develop local talents when he returns home.

Courage Nanevie, a Navy officer, however, expressed disappointment at Ghana not boasting of any professional player, saying it accounted for the poor showing in international competitions.

The player, who is one of the best on the local scene currently, believes the country could reclaim her lost glory in table tennis if players were supported to concentrate on the game and upgraded their skills through exchange of programmes such as the one he was gaining from at the Westchester Centre.

He praised the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) for its immense contribution in ensuring he got the sponsorship and promised to do his best to create more avenues for other Ghanaian players to benefit from it.

He also expressed gratitude to Nana Adjei Boakye, Jason Onyami, Mr Elliot Agyare for their support.
