The Ghana international, 21, was in action for loan side Vitoria Guimaraes as they drew 1-1 with Belenenses in the Portuguese league.

According to reports, Mensah comes highly recommended by superagent Jorge Mendes, who represents United boss Jose Mourinho and Old Trafford legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Scouts from Monaco and Sevilla also turned up to watch Mensah and a number of other players.

Mensah was linked with a move to United in the summer of 2015 before being snapped up by Atletico Madrid.

The attacking midfielder is currently on a season-long loan from La Liga giants Atletico.

Mensah – who was sick all over Madrid’s training pitch in July this year – has scored one professional goal in his senior career, which came for Vitoria in May last year.

The Ghanaian started off at the Portuguese club before catching Atletico manager Diego Simeone's eye last summer.

Since his La Liga move he has been shipped out on loan to Getafe and now back to Vitoria.
