Middlesbrough linked with Edwin Gyasi

English Championship campaigners Middlesbrough are eyeing up a move for Ghana international, Edwin Gyasi, according to The Daily Mail.

The 26-year old right-winger currently plays for Norwegian side Aalesunds FK, and they have set a £600,000 asking price plus add-ons for the midfielder.

Gyasi’s performances have put plenty of clubs on high alert, including both Sunderland and Premier League side West Bromwich Albion, but it is Middlesbrough who look in pole position to secure his services.

He has scored six goals and has four assists to his name in 29 games so far this year, and would provide ammunition for Middlesbrough going forwards.

There has been plenty of chopping and changing in that position for Boro so far this campaign, with Stewart Downing the only regular starter out-wide.

Gyasi made his international debut for The Black Stars in September 2017, coming off the bench for the final quarter of the World Cup Qualifier against Congo.

He made his first start and scored his first goal for the national side in November, as they drew 1-1 with Egypt.

Although Edwin Gyasi is primarily a right-sided midfielder, he can also be deployed on the left, as a striker or just in behind the front man as a number 10.

His versatility could be a huge pull for both Championship and Premier League clubs this transfer window.

He has spent most of his career in the Netherlands. AZ Alkmaar was his boyhood club, and he came through their academy in 2010 as a 19-year old, before moving around various Eredivisie clubs.

The winger has played for FC Twente, Heracles and Roda in the Dutch top-flight, before moving to Norway in 2016.
