Medeama cry for sponsorship money

Medeama Sporting Club are crying for financial assistance from their headline sponsors, Gold Fields Ghana Limited, to enable them to realise their CAF Confederation Cup ambitions.

After thrashing Morocco’s Magreb Association Sporting (MAS) 3-0 in the first leg of their Confederation Cup tie at Essipon last Sunday, Medeama, who are due to leave for the return leg today, need almost GH¢100,000 to embark on the round trip to Morocco.

According to the president of Medeama, Moses Armah, aka Mospacka, the club is anxiously waiting for a sponsorship fee of GH¢350,000 from Gold Fields to ease its financial burden.

Mr Armah revealed that while the previous trip to Equatorial Guinea cost the club GH¢70,000, the Morocco budget had soared, since they intend carrying their own food and water along to Rabat to avoid any tricks from the North Africans.

“We are appealing to our sponsors to release funds to us as early as possible to help ease our financial burden because things are really difficult for us in the African campaign,” the distressed club president lamented in an interview with the Daily Graphic.

“We don’t want to take any chances so we are carrying our own food and water to Morocco. We want to go far in the competition but it all boils down to money,” he stated.

Mr Armah promised to join the team later tomorrow ahead of the return encounter slated for Saturday.
