Martha Bissah offered $32,000 scholarship?

Former chairman of the Ghana Athletics Association, George Lutterodt has revealed that the Norfolk State University in Virginia has offered 2014 Youth Olympic gold medalist, Martha Bissah an educational scholarship worth $32,000 per annum.

The former athletics boss in a Facebook post on Friday said he was delighted the 18-year-old had proved her critics wrong by finally earning for herself a scholarship two years after winning a gold medal in the 800 metres at the Youth Games in Nanjin, China.

Martha was offered a scholarship by President John Dramani Mahama in the State of the Nation address on February 26, 2015.

However, she was unable to access the scholarship amid a series of public disagreements with the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA).

Mr Lutterrodt's post which included pictures of himself and Martha beaming with smiles read, "To God be the Glory. Today NSU in Virginia USA, has offered a full SCHOLARSHIP and ADMISSION to Martha Bissah the 2014 youth Olympic gold medallist in the 800m.

"The scholarship is worth close to USD 32,000.OO per annum.we thank God that those who said she was associating herself with the wrong people who had nothing to offer her have been proved spectacularly wrong.

"Two other universities are also offering her Track and Field scholarships to arrive by next week. The Coaches in the USA have promised to turn her into a world Champion in time.In life don't give up on your dreams, the sky's the limit".

Attempts by Graphic Online to reach Mr Lutterodt and Martha Bissah for further comment proved futile.
