The Maidens arrived in Accra last Saturday from Jordan after they lost 1-2 to North Korea in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Welcoming the team back home, Nanbanyin Eyison, an Emergency Committee (EmCo) member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), highly commended the Maidens for their impressive show, saying they could be proud of their achievement given the furore that surrounded their campaign.

Ms Leanier Addy, an Executive Committee (ExCo) member of the GFA who also doubles as the chairperson of the Women's League Board (WLB), said she was proud of the performance of the team despite their exit at the quarter-finals, as they had fought gallantly.

The head coach of the team, Evans Adotey, said while they were disappointed at the loss and exit, they were consoled by the warm reception accorded them by the GFA.

"We went to Jordan with a mission of being among the final four, unfortunately, that did not materialise, and we were left disappointed, but at least the reception we have had on arrival has given us some consolation," Coach Adotey said.
