Kotoko set to beat Hearts

Excitement  in the ongoing GHALCA-organised G6 tournament has been on a low key until local giants, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak qualified to clash in the semifinal on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The two teams would be going to this encounter with very intriguing tales, while Hearts of Oak are playing without a substantive coach, the future of Kotoko stop-gap coach Michael Osei, remains uncertain following the appointment of a new CEO for the club.

Nonetheless, the uncertainty surrounding Osei’s future would be shelved as he leads an array of talented Porcupine Warriors stars to guard the trophy they won last season.

Bragging rights would be one of the main motivations for the two sides who want to ensure they can establish some authority over the other ahead of the upcoming league season scheduled to commence on December 18.

Apart from the bragging right, the “Never Say Die’ lads would use this preseason competition to assess some of the players they recruited this season particular, Malik Akowuah, whose transfer from Medeama has been a major source of controversy.

For Kotoko whose activities have been quiet on the transfer market, they would be counting on their experienced players including skipper, Amos Frimpong, Sarfo Gyemfi, Dauda Mohammed and Obed Owusu to protect that enviable record they have acheived over the Phobians in recent memories.

Aduana Stars will also clash with Wa All Stars in the other semi-final fixture in what promises to be a cracker between the two sides.

Defending league champions, Wa All Stars, were defeated by the Porcupine Warrirors and they would be seeking opportunity to vent their spleen on Aduana Stars who have been in fine form in the competition.
