Kumasi Asante Kotoko yesterday beat Ashantigold 1-0 in their rescheduled Ghana Premier League Week four fixture at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi.

A 63rd minute goal by Yakubu Mohammed, a former Ashgold striker, helped Coach Dzravko Lugarusic’s side to record their first win in seven years at the Len Clay Stadium and maintain their second position on the GPL table.

Mohammed finished off a rebound from Paul Acquah's effort to silence the home supporters but refused to celebrate as he quickly ran in search of the ball for the game to continue.

Interestingly, it was Mohammed who struck first for Kotoko last Sunday before Amos Addai equalised for the home side as the game was locked off at 1-1 before the heavy rains that affected visibility forced the referee to call off the match.

In the 82nd minute Ashgold fought back trying to fetch the consolation goal but Shafiu Mumuni’s header hit the side of the goal post.

The victory pegs Kotoko on the same 10 points with league leaders  Aduana who are on top on superior goals.
