Much has changed with the player's situation since then and he wants to be close to his family, with Boateng expected to sign for Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.

Citing "'irreversible personal reasons", the club released a statement explaining the development.

"For this institution, all of the players in the squad are people first and professionals second," the statement read, explaining why Las Palmas were willing to let the 30-year-old depart.

The statement also wished the player all the best and thanked him for his professionalism.

Boateng will give a final press conference at the Estadio de Gran Canaria at 17:00 local time this Wednesday afternoon, accompanied by club president Miguel Angel Ramirez.
