Karela FC close to premiership

Runaway Zone Two leaders, Karela FC, could seal their Premier League promotion on Sunday if they defeat Proud United away in a crucial Division One League encounter at Swedru.

Karela, who have opened a 10-point gap at the summit of Zone Two with 49 points from 19 matches, will go all out to win and secure the vital ticket to the top flight.

Karela, based in Anyinase in the Western Region, are handled by former Kotoko trainer, Johnson Smith, who is bent on bringing premiership action to the Western Region next season.

An anticipated win at that difficult ground on Sunday would end the suspense and also calm the nerves of bankroller, David Brigidi, whose vision is to make Karela FC a model club that can rub shoulders with the other top teams globally.

Proud United, on the other hand, must win at home as they look to extend their opponent's party to a further date.

With 21 points in 11th place, Proud United also need a win badly to move up and could frustrate their opponents to earn at least a point.

In Zone One, leaders W. Nea Salamina, who are tied on 34 points with Eleven Wonders and Unity FC, will find it tough when they visit the Coronation Park to lock horns with fifth-placed B.A. United on Sunday.

In Zone Three, Dreams FC need a vital away win over Danbort at the Nungua Town Park to maintain the four-point lead between them and Heart of Lions.
