I’m ready for any role in Stars — Schlupp

Germany- born Ghanaian left back, Jeffery Schlupp, says he is ready to play in any position for the Black Stars if he finally makes the 23-man squad for the World Cup in Brazil next month.

Schlupp is included in Coach Kwasi Appiah’s provisional 26-man squad and after training with the team for the first time since November 2011, the 21-year-old said he was ready to represent his country at the mundial when given the opportunity.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports last Tuesday, the Leicester City defender said “I am ready to play for the team in any position.

“As you all know, I started my career as a striker but I played this whole season at Leicester City as a defender.”

The former Brentford FC loanee also revealed that, his ambition was to translate  his club form to his country after helping his side gain promotion back into the English top flight.

Looking into the group challenges ahead of the Stars in the 2014 World Cup Schlupp said: “Everyone knows what Germany and Portugal are capable of doing but we played USA at our last  World Cup so we know what to do.”
