‘I’m focusing on my coaching career’

Former Ghana right-back, John Paintsil, says his focus is to build on his career as a coach and nothing would entice him to exchange the dug out for the pitch again.

According to him, he has successfully completed his coaching course in South Africa and he is now the head coach of Vision Explorer Academy, a division two side which he is aiming to guide to the premiership soon.

Speaking to the Graphic Sports during last Thursday's CAF awards night, the former Fulham right back said he was focused on building a career to make him one of the best coaches on the local scene.

"Right now I have my certificate and I am a coach, as you know I did one season with Kaizer Chiefs and I am back home starting to do a few projects with Vision Explorer so I am very happy and focusing on my new team" he said.

The former Black Stars defender said Ghana's inability to qualify for the World Cup has given fans the leverage to propound all kinds of theory about the future of the team but he was more than convinced that the team was endowed with so much quality.

He said what the team needed now was discipline, teamwork and unity which were the key factors for any team to perform well and said he was upbeat about the rebuilding process of coach Kwesi Appiah.

Paintsil, a former Maccabi Tel Aviv player, praised the Black Stars coach for giving every Ghanaian star the opportunity to be part of the national team and asked Ghanaians to support him to bring glory to the country.

The ex-Leicester City and West Ham player who tipped Aubameyang to win the CAF Best player gong because of his consistency over the years, was of the view that the coach would rebuild a formidable team to be at the world stage soon.
