Richard Yamoah scores Hearts of Oak’s winning goal after a goalmouth melee

Hearts pip All Stars

Accra Hearts of Oak yesterday pipped visiting Wa All Stars 1-0 at the Accra Stadium to move further up the First Capital Plus Premier League.

A brilliant kick by midfielder Richard Yamoah from a goalmouth scramble at the stroke of half-time gave the Phobians the opener.

Hearts attacked from the blast of the whistle in search of an early goal, with striker Gilbert Fiamenyo and attacking midfielder Foovi Aguidi leading the onslaught but were restrained by the defence of the visitors.

Both teams struggled with ball control as much of the ball was played in midfield and the flanks. But the homesters kept charging on their opponents but lacked the finesse and the cutting edge to find the back of the net.

In the 40th minute, Fiamenyo dribbled past two All Stars defenders in the box but wasted too much time with only goalkeeper Baba Musah at his mercy.

Five minutes later, luck smiled on the Phobians when a floated corner was poorly dealt with  for an advancing Yamoah to cleverly shoot through a forest of legs into the net.
