The Ghana coach witnessed the draw in Montreal last Saturday that pitted the Black Princesses against hosts, Canada, Finland and former champions Korea DPR.

Though handed a tough start against the hosts in the tournament's curtain-raiser, Hayford is determined to raise the bar for the Black Princesses, who have failed to get past the first round in previous appearances.

This time, Hayford wants them to go very far.

“It may be a bit intimidating but we are up for the challenge,” Hayford said.

“If you’re asking me how Ghana will fair, I want us to win the cup.”

His opposite number for the opener, Canada's Andrew Olivieri, is equally confident of advancing from the group.

“If we get through this group, we will likely have to play against Germany or USA in the quarter-finals, and that’s going to be challenging. Both are great teams. But this Canada side can dream of doing whatever it wants,” said Olivieri. --ghanafa.org
