Ghanaian appointed President of Para Cycling Commission in Africa

The Technical Director of the Ghana Cycling Federation, Mr Shaaban Mohammed has been appointed the President of the Para Cycling Commission on Africa.

This was announced at the just ended African Cycling Commission (CAC) Congress which took place in Cairo, Egypt.

Mr Mohammed is credited with the development of cycling in Ghana, since the death of the founder of the Ghana Cycling Federation, Mike Adjavon.

He was also instrumental in shaping the careers of para cyclists of Alem Mumuni and Ernest Ayisi who are now powerhouses in the sport.

It would be recalled that, Mr Mohammed organised the first ever Para Cycling Championship in Ghana in 2011, aiding Alem Mumuni to gather some points for the London Olympics in 2012.

Speaking to Graphic Online after his appointment, Mr Mohammed said his main focus in the next few years is to organise at least two or three Championships ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Shaaban Mohammed is an electrical engineer by profession and is married with four children.
