Ghana's hope in table tennis fade

Ghana's disappointing campaign at the ongoing Commonwealth Games suffered yet another shocking blow as the table tennis team failed to make any meaningful impact in their respective games.

Celia Baah-Danso and Cynthia Kwabi were the first to crash out of the first round of the Women's doubles yesterday, losing to Jamaican duo of Shenique Clare and Yvonne Foster by 11-8, 8-11, 6-11 and 5-11.

Mareen Adom Amankwaa and Bernice Borquaye then gave the Ghanaian side some hope when they beat the Ugandan duo of Amina Lukaaya and Ludia Natunga 3-1, only to be humiliated by Singapore's Ye Lin and Yihan Zhou 11-2, 11-3 and 11-1 in the second round.

Felix Lartey did not produce any different result although he put up a good fight but fell to Malaysia's Chee Feng Leong by 8-11, 10-12, 6-11, 11-7 and 8-11.

Samuel Anim and Christopher Symonds finished 44th and 46th with a time of 1:00.48 and 1:01:15:52 respectively in the Road Cycling men's individual time trial.

England's Alex Dowsett won gold in a time of 47:41.78 minutes, Australia's Rohan Dennis took silver, finishing with a time of 47:51.08, while Wale's Geraint Thomas won bronze in a time of 47:55.82.
