Ghana's 'fastest human' finals Nov 29
The second edition of Ghana’s Fastest Human Under-18 will climax at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra on November 29 with five fastest teenagers from the 10 regions of the country competing for honours.

The novelty athletics competition for teenagers was launched at the Accra Stadium last Monday at which the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga, announced that a policy to cater for special needs of athletes when they are on recess and in-between competitions, will soon be put in place.
At the launch, Reks Brobby, a former national athlete and the brain behind the talent-hunting programme, noted that the search for Ghana’s version of Usain Bolt and Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce was a seven-year agenda towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
“This is the same concept similar to the Boys and Girls High School Athletics Championships in Jamaica which has produced the likes of Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce,” he explained.
This year’s headline sponsor, Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, will finance the event, including the finals in Accra.
The Managing Director of the bank, Kweku Bedu-Addo, stressed that his outfit is committed to supporting the least financed sporting disciplines in the country.
He emphasised the need for a concerted effort from all stakeholders to promote these sporting disciplines which can enhance the fortunes of the country and its athletes.
The chairman for the occasion, Nene Nagai Kasa VIII (known in private life as Mike Gizo), Chief of Agomeda , called on Ghanaians to decentralise sports and refrain from their blanket support for soccer.
The event was graced by Otoobour Djan Kwasi II, Chief of Aburi, Nana Prah Agyensaim VI, Paramount Chief of Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area and chairman of the GHACEM Foundation.
