Ghana hosts African scrabble championship Thursday

Ghana will host the most prestigious scrabble event on the continent, the African Scrabble Championship from Thursday to Sunday.

About 80 players from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Liberia and South Africa will join Ghana to participate in this event.

The Nigerian squad, led by former world champion, Jighere Wellington, has already expressed its resolve to annex the coveted prize, but Kenya led by their star player Allan Oyende, have also intimated their readiness to turn the tables this time round.

The president of the Scrabble Association of Ghana, Mr George Addo, has assured Team Ghana's numerous supporters of a surprise 'host-and-win' feat, with highly rated players such as the national champion, Charles Tachie-Menson, Micky Quao, Victor Amartey and Samson Asare fired up for action.
