The Ghana Football Association (GFA) yesterday announced that each club would receive GH¢3,000 to support them in their NWL campaign in the absence of sponsors for the competition.

Ibrahim Sannie Darra, deputy general secretary in charge of Communications announced this at the launch of the 2014/2015 NWL at the GFA Secretariat yesterday.

In addition to the amount, the GFA will also bear the cost of officiating fees for the season.

Sannie Darra said the support was further proof of the GFA's commitment to the development of the women's game.

Emmanuel Gyimah,  acting general secretary of the GFA who stood in for the GFA president, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, advised the clubs to exhibit professionalism and also show a high sense of discipline  to attract sponsors to the NWL.

"No sponsor wants to be associated with a brand that is not attractive. I therefore, urge you to shun any negative tendencies, either on the pitch and off the pitch that will bring the game into disrepute," Mr Gyimah said.

The technical director of the GFA, Francis Oti AKenteng, commended the organisers and the clubs for their efforts towards the development of women's football, stressing that the organisation of the NWL had imparted positively on the performance of the national teams.

Madam Leanier Addy, the chairperson of the Women's League Board (WLB), organisers of the NWL, said the competition was progressing steadily since its maiden edition three years ago, but financial support remained a major challenge.
