 GFA president — Kwesi Nyantakyi

GFA goes to congress today

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will converge on the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram today for its much-awaited general congress.

Today’s congress was preceded by an emergency GFA Executive Committee meeting at the FA Secretariat yesterday to streamline the modalities for the delayed end-of-season gathering.

The congress, originally scheduled for September, was put on hold at the eleventh hour following a court injunction placed on it by King Faisal.

The raging legal dispute between Faisal on one hand, and the GFA and Aduana Stars on the other, has delayed the 2014-2015 season for over three months since the First Capital Premier League was scheduled to commence last September 22.

Last week, an Accra High Court finally gave the FA the green light to hold congress pending the outcome of the substantive case.

As a result, the GFA has tentatively fixed January 7 for the commencement of the League.
