GCB supports Ghana’s World Cup campaign

The Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) has donated GH¢300,000 to support Ghana’s participation in the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The donation is to help facilitate the creation of a Black Stars Village in Brazil and also to assist in other preparatory works for live telecast of World Cup matches for Ghanaians.

Making the presentation in Accra, the Board Chairman of the GCB, Dr Fritz Gockel, said his outfit had budgeted for GH¢1 million to support the nation’s participation in the World Cup. 

With the recent launch of the “GCB 30 to Brazil Promo”, Dr Gockel indicated that the bank would use its wide network of branches to support a lot of Ghanaians and customers to Brazil to cheer the team up.

Receiving the donation, the Minister for Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, said the GCB had proved that it was the nation’s patriotic bank.
