The goal came in the 37th minute when Starlets captain stole down the left flank and delivered a low cross which was slammed home from close range at the far-post by Ibrahim.

The result ensured that Ghana made a winning return to the FIFA U-17 World Cup after an absence of 10 years where they failed to qualify.

Colombia dominated the possession stakes (with over 56 percent as compared to Ghana's 44 percent) but were left undone by a poor attack who struggled to create clear-cut chances.

The result moves the Starlets to the top of Group A with three points ahead of Colombia (0 points) as well as hosts India and the USA - who face each other later in their first match.

Ghana will face the USA in their next group game on Monday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

Elsewhere in Group B, New Zealand held Turkey to a 1-1 draw at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.
