FA president justifies Ghana’s 70-man contingent

Kwesi Nyantakyi, the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has justified Ghana’s 70-member contingent, including players and officials that departed Accra a fortnight ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

He disclosed that the contingent included three physiotherapists, two therapists, members of the Black Stars Management Committee, chefs, psychologists and other backroom staff.

“Even some countries are going with over 100-member contingents, but we don’t have money so we have limited it to 70” he contented.

According to the FA president, aside the $9.5million dollars provided by the government, the team needed an extra $2.3million which has been provided by sponsors.

Touching on issues related to the Black Stars and their preparations for the World Cup in an interview with Kwesi Pratt, the host of TV3’s programme Hot Issues last Saturday, Mr Nyantakyi argued that no team had ever had solutions to penalty kicks and Ghana would be no exception.
