Dzadey wins CAL Bank Open Golf

Barry Dzadey won this year’s CAL Bank Limited Open Golf Championship at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra last Saturday after returning a net score of 70 in the men’s Group A.John Gedze, who grossed 71 net, finished second, while Geoff Coffie placed third with 72 net, beating Odoi Sowah on count-back.

Dzadey received a trophy and an undisclosed cash prize for winning the tournament, while the others took home souvenirs from sponsors.

In the men’s Group ‘B’’ encounter, Samuel Boateng came first with 69 net, with Beningo Mimis and Obeng Appiah taking the second and third places respectively with 70 net and 71 net.

In the ladies “A” segment, Christine Fuler emerged champion after a net score of 72, beating Raheda Khalil and Beatrice Vetsch-Bempong on count-back.

Niine Sarpong came tops in the ladies “B” category with 66 net; Vastie Tay took the second position with 69 net, while Hellen Appiah placed third with 74 net.

The Managing Director of CAL Bank, Dr Frank Adu Jnr, won the longest drive, with Samuel K. Boafo and Niine Inkumsah Sarpong winning the Men’s and Women’s CAL Golf Academies respectively.

The one-day 18-Hole event, which was opened to golfers throughout the country, attracted over 120 participants.

The Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, Mark Coffie Junior commended the bank for its sponsorship and called on other corporate bodies to help develop the sport.
