Premiership returnees Dreams FC produced a brave and sustained attacking football to shock Asante Kotoko 1-0 in the second game of the ongoing GHALCA G 8 tournament at the Baba Yara Stadium yesterday.

The win opens up group A, ahead of the final group matches this weekend for a place in the semi final match.

Kotoko, Dreams and Aduana Stars are now tied up on three points each, but Aduana could stretch the lead to six points if they beat neophytes, Techiman Eleven Wonders today at the same venue.

The lone goal scored by Dreams was a scintillating move initiated by skipper Leonard Owusu. It found Sharani Zuberu on the left side of attack and his incisive cross was latched on by Richard Addea who quickly slotted it into the net on the stroke of half time.

Coach Steve Polack of Kotoko made 10 changes to the squad that played against Tachiman Wonders in the opening match, but his boys struggled to cope with the fast pace of Dreams at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Dawu-based Dreams FC’s confidence level continued to soar high with each passing minute and could have made it a two-goal cushion in the 46th minute, but Zuberu, one of the architects of the first goal, fumbled in front of goalkeeper Michael Abu.

Kotoko could have come back in the second half, but Frederick Boateng threw away a 71st minute spot kick after Baba Mahama was chopped down in the penalty area for Referee Eku Boateng to point to the spot.

As the game wore on, Kotoko threw more men into attack in search of the equaliser, but their plan of feigning injury in the box to attract the attention of the referee failed.

In their search for goal, Kotoko left their rear bare to allow Dreams to attack, and they were lucky that they did not concede a second goal later in the game.

Dreams had to endure a six-minute time added on and a loss of substitute Emmanuel Eli Keke for unnecessary delay.
