Dogboe’s date with destiny as he fights Chacon tonight
Tonight at the Bukom Boxing Arena, one of Ghana’s elite fighters, Isaac Dogboe, will have a date with destiny when he seeks for a WBO International super bantamweight title shot via a final eliminator with Argentine Javier Nicolas Chacon.

Indeed, Dogboe, 22, has a fine opportunity to shoot himself into fame at a time when it appears boxing fortunes are dwindling in the country.
Dogboe, 16-0, is one of the prospects in the sport currently and he takes on an Argentine whose record stands as 29 bouts with three losses and a draw.
Nicknamed the “ Royal Storm’ and “Brave Son”, Dogboe is expected to surmount the Chacon hurdle just like his previous bouts against Julian Evaristo Aristule last year in New Zealand and Neil John Tabanao, also late last year.
During a workout at his training base at the Kempinski Boxing Gym in Accra, the boxer looked focused, hitting mitts, skipping ropes and punching bags with vigour under the tutelage of his father/trainer Paul Dogbe.
He told the Daily Graphic in an interview that he was eager and ready to kayo the Argentine. “I am not underestimating him and I won’t belittle his prowess but I will knock him out,’ he noted.
Looking at his face and the sweat drenching from his brow, the diminutive but stout Ghanaian who used to reside in the United Kingdom has one objective in mind: a dream to become a world champion.
The journey started long ago when he returned to the country from his sojourn abroad. some people who played a part in his blossoming career have passed on. Mention can be made of former boxing match-maker, the late Ako Patterson, who played a major role in his career until his demise.
The zeal with which Dogboe yearns for a world title has compel led him to live in utmost seclusion from his dad and public approbrium, as well as the media spotlight.
But tonight, the nation and the world will watch on as he takes his first step into stardom and comes face to face with destiny.
