Dislike for pork prevented me from excelling in Korea football - George Alhassan
Topscorer of the 1982 AFCON, George Alhassan says he was unable to make an impact in South Korea during his playing days because of his strong dislike for pork meat.

According to Alhassan, who joined Ulsan Hyundai FC in 1984 from FC 105 in Gabon, at the time pork was the main delicacy in the Asian country and he did not like it.
“I didn’t like their food. The major delicacy was pig meat and I don’t eat so I couldn’t cope," Alhassan, 62, said in an interview on Happy FM.
He added, "That was why I spent just a season in the league".
He also disclosed that the tight travelling schedule of the Korean league also contributed to his decision to return to Ghana.
“Also, they had a very tight league schedule which made it difficult," he stressed.
"It was very difficult for you to go home. We were always travelling from one place to the other".
Alhassan won the Ghana top-flight league’s top scorer for two seasons while playing for Accra Great Olympics before moving to South Korea.
