Court fines Australian weightlifter

An Australian weightlifter has been ordered to pay £400 to a Welsh weightlifter after admitting in court that he assaulted the Welsh .

Francois Etoundi, 29, head-butted Welsh weightlifter Gareth Evans, 28, breaking his nose, at the athletes' village at 05:30am last Wednesday.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court, he was ordered to pay Evans £400.
Etoundi won a bronze medal in the weightlifting 77kg category last Sunday. It appears the problem arose after Evans' girlfriend hugged him.
Sheriff Andrew Cubie said Etoundi had chosen to bring the law of the playground to the Commonwealth Games.
