The victory together with the 1-1 they secured in their first meeting with the Tanzania side a week ago in Dar-es-Salaam has brought the Tarkwa-based side closer to a semi-final berth with two matches left to complete the group stage.

It was defender Daniel Amoah, who started the onslaught as early as the sixth minute when he connected home from a corner taken by midfielder Enoch Adjei.

Two minutes later, Medeama had another opportunity to increase the tally when Eric Kwakwa, who was in a good position to score was hacked down in the box. The referee accordingly pointed to the spot for a penalty.

However, Malik Akowuah’s kick was pushed to safety by Young Africa’s goalkeeper Deogratias Munish.

Undaunted by the miss, Medeama continued to push for more goals and their efforts were rewarded in the 21st minute when midfielder Abass Mohammed fired past unrushing goalkeeper Munish.

The cheers had hardly died down  when the visitors were also awarded a spot kick by referee Redovane Jiyed which Saimon Musuva  brilliantly converted to beat goalkeeper Daniel Adjei to reduce the tallly for his side.

Abass, who was the tormentor in chief for Medeama was on hand again in the 36th minute when he headed home the ball during a goalmouth melee.

Both sides made a number of changes after recess, but it was the visitors who nearly scored at the later stages of the match when Mahdhi Juma picked a loose ball outside the box and delivered a shot which hit the post with Daniel Adjie completely beaten.
