Bibiani are Ashanti Hockey Super Champions

Perennial underachievers,  Bibiani, were crowned Ashanti regional Champion of Champions (Super Champions) after beating the Ashanti Regional Hockey League champions, KNUST, by a lone goal at the Baba Yara Stadium last Saturday.

The match was a replay of the knockout final the previous week which saw Bibiani winning the ultimate prize by beating the KNUST lads 2-1 at the same venue.

Daniel Ayensu, who was one of the architects of Bibiani's knockout victory, was the lone goal hero last Saturday as his decisive strike enabled the sport’s journey men lift the trophy after a tough battle.

And despite being closely marked in the match, Ayensu  still managed to sneak through the crack defensive network of KNUST to score a wonderful goal.

In the knockout final, Bibiani’s Ayensu and Alex Sarfo scored to silence the league champions team, as Richmond Mireko reduced the tally for the university side. 

Bibiani’s double victory over KNUST, was, perhaps, the biggest upset of the season as they could hardly stand the might of the university team in the league. Nonetheless, they ended the season on a high with a performance that made them the  side to watch next season.
